Research shows the answer is both simple and complex: yes, there is a connection, but it’s not as straightforward as you might think. Is a high IQ linked to autism? About half of those with autism have average or above-average intelligence, compared to earlier beliefs that most had low IQs. Some studies reveal that autism and high IQ share genetic links, showing that a high intelligence can occur in autism, even if not typical for everyone diagnosed.
